â Lackawanna River and Watershed Tour

  • 60 miles long

  • â350 square mile watershed

  • âFlows through parts of four counties (Susquehanna, Wayne, Lackawanna and Luzerne)  which includes 23 municipalities

  • âHeadwaters are glacial ponds and wetlands on the Allegheny-Pocono plateau along the Wayne-Susquehanna county line

  • âThese flow into the East and West Branches of the Lackawanna River

  • âThe two branches meet at Stillwater Dam near Uniondale

  • âThe main-stem of the Lackawanna then flows 40 miles through the Lackawanna Valley to its confluence with the Susquehanna River at Pittston

  • âLackawanna River is the largest tributary to the North Branch of the Susquehanna River in Northeastern Pennsylvania
