Powder Mill Dam River Corridor Preserve

The Powder Mill Dam River Corridor Preserve is located on the east bank of the Lackawanna River, off Delaware Street, in Jermyn PA. The 12 acre preserve is owned and managed by the Lackawanna Valley Conservancy and the Lackawanna River Corridor Association. Access to the Preserve is available daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Directions

From US Route 6 (Robert Casey/Lackawanna Valley Industrial Highway)

--> Get off the Industrial Highway at exit 5, PA Rte. 107, Rushbrook St., Jermyn
--> Turn west (you can't go east, its a dead end)
--> Go 3/10 mile to Bonnie Drive
--> Turn left onto Bonnie Drive (there is no right turn)
--> Follow Bonnie Drive past Rapid Pallet to Delaware Street
--> Turn right onto Delaware Street
--> Go under the small railroad underpass
--> Turn left on dirt driveway past first house on left (don't cross the River)
--> Go through gate in chain link fence and follow road. This is the access road to the Lackawanna River Basin Sewer Authority's Archbald sewage treatment plant. It will become a future link in the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail. Gates are locked daily at 5:00 PM, however we can get in after that time.
--> Go for about 1500 feet. The Powder Mill Preserve begins at Aylesworth Creek on the right hand side of the road and goes down river (south) for 2000 feet.

From Business Rte. 6 (Scranton-Carbondale Highway)

--> Get off Business Rte. 6 at the exit for Jermyn and Mayflield (Rte. 107).
--> Take Rte. 107 into Jermyn.
--> Continue east past the Windsor Inn (which is at the stoplight at the corner of Rte. 107 & Washington Ave. in Jermyn) for about a half mile.
--> Turn right onto Bonnie Dr. (there is no left turn).
--> Follow above directions after turning onto Bonnie Dr.
