RiverFest 2012
RiverFest is the signature event of the LRCA.  On Saturday June 9, 2012, paddlers will take to the water and revelers will fill the banks of the Lackawanna River.  A day of exercise and fun, RiverFest draws the community outdoors after the long winter to celebrate the valley and the river that runs through it.

RiverFest is a full day of river activities, music, food, educational & environmental displays and fun for all ages and abilities.

All are welcome to join the LRCA in celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year for RiverFest 2012:

Sponsorship:  Sponsorship is welcome from individuals to large corporations throughout the Lackawanna River Watershed.

Canoe-A-Thon:  A timed run on the Lackawanna River from two Mid Valley launch sites, to the finish line at the Olive Street Bridge in Scranton.

Regatta:  A free fun competition open to all with great imaginations.  Create a vessel that will navigate the Lackawanna River from a mid-river launch near the Middle Street Pumping station next to the Farmers Market to the finish at the Olive Street Bridge.  The “River Doge” invites one and all!!

Duck-A-Thon:  The courageous LRCA flock of ten duckies takes a mid-river launch near the Middle Street Pumping station next to the Farmers Market into the waters of the Lackawanna, for an exciting race to the finish at the Olive Street Bridge.

Many volunteers (approx. 200+) are needed for this event.  Consider volunteering for one or more activities!!!
