A regional Rite of Spring in NEPA!! RiverFest is the signature event of the LRCA. In May of each year, paddlers take to the water and revelers fill the banks of the Lackawanna River. A day of exercise and fun, RiverFest draws the community outdoors after the long winter to celebrate the valley and the river that runs through it.
All are welcome to join the LRCA this year for:
Sponsorship:
Sponsorship is welcome from individuals to large corporations throughout the Lackawanna River Watershed;
Canoe-a-Thon:
A timed run on the Lackawanna River from two Mid Valley launch sites, to the finish line at the Olive Street Bridge in Scranton;
Duck-a-Thon:
The courageous LRCA flock of ten duckies takes a mid-river launch near the Middle Street Pumping station next to the Farmers Market into the waters of the Lackawanna, for an exciting race to the finish at the Olive Street Bridge.
RiverFest is a full day of river activities, music, food, and fun for all ages and abilities.
Volunteers are needed to have a successful event.
